Eskimo Roll
Workshop
If you're the proud owner of a new
kayak, the question that your friends will always ask is....
"can you do an Eskimo roll?"
Our experienced instructors are ready to teach you the
proper techniques of rolling. This workshop is conducted
year-round, either in a heated, indoor pool or a nearby
lake.
In our roll workshop you will learn:
- proper boat fit and adjustment for effective rolling
- a safe and effective wet-exit technique
- how to perform a "bow rescue"
- proper hip snap development
- proper body & head position for executing a roll
- techniques for effectively rolling the kayak
- the mechanics of various types of rolls

QuickStart Your Kayak
Are you new to kayaking? Did you just
get a new Rec or Sit-on-Top kayak? If so,
This short, half-day class will give you all the tools you
need to "quickstart" your kayaking skills and get
the most out of your new boat! Designed for entry-level
paddlers, we'll teach you basic paddling skills, show you
how to paddle safely.... and yes...... we'll show
you how to enjoy the wonderful world of paddlesports!
Topics of this course include: transporting/car-topping your
kayak, basic paddling and safety gear, launching &
recovering scenarios, maneuvering your kayak... forward,
backward, sideways (abeam), turning and stopping. We'll demo
some rescues and even let you try them if you want.
This course will get you off to a great start and your
instructors will have you gliding through the water....
effortlessly!

Rescues and Reentries
Have you ever had an "out of boat"
experience? If so, then this class may be for you! We'll concentrate on
one of the essential skills of
closed-deck kayaking - rescues. Your instructors will
explain and demonstrate assisted and self-rescues, first
on land then in the water. The fun starts when you get out
on the water and practice both types of rescues yourself.
This format of "explain, demonstrate, practice"
makes learning simple and fun!

Paddling Sampler
Not sure which type of kayak you'd prefer? Solo or tandem?
Try several models - on the water - before you decide.
In this 3 hour session we'll introduce several types of
kayaks: recreational kayaks and sit-on-top kayaks, both solo
& tandem models. You'll get a chance to paddle them all
and decide for yourself which type of kayak best meets your
needs. Of course, we'll offer some basic instruction so that
you can efficiently paddle each style. Your instructor will
also be available to answer any questions you might have
regarding boats, paddles and other kayak-related gear.
Geared for beginners interested in purchasing recreational kayaks, this on-water session will
certainly give you a good feel for the paddling characteristics of several types of
boats

Stroke
Techniques
Would you like to be more
efficient moving your kayak through the water? In this
3-hour on-water session, we'll demonstrate and practice
proper "boat-body-blade" relationships so that you
get the most out of each paddling stroke. Forward, backward,
turning and yes..... we'll even have you maneuvering your
kayak sideways with ease. This class is designed to
"put the polish" on your paddle strokes!

Navigation:

Navigation Workshop
Navigating from land might be relatively easy, but can you do it form the deck of a kayak?
If you're taking an extended paddling trip, you might have
to rely on your charts and compass skills. In this classroom
workshop you will learn navigation techniques such as dead reckoning,
reading a chart and map, setting your compass, and yes, even
working with a GPS!

Private Instruction
Some individuals
simply prefer one-on-one instruction, or maybe they
want a training session specifically designed to meet their
paddling goals. Our instructor staff is prepared to give you
that personal attention, from basic skills to the most
advanced paddling skills and techniques! Not only can meet
your schedule, we are prepared to bring the training to
you!
A Private Instruction session can be arranged for 1 to 4 people, half and full day,
weekdays or weekends.
